Hi Simon
Glad to see you are getting torn in to the sprayer, the wheels are very rare and so are the tyres, my plan if the wheels wer too far gone was to find some wheels with wrong centres of a size that tyres are easy to buy and then cut out the centres of the old wheels and weld them into the new rims. Not a practice I would recommend for a…[Read more] -

The engine is I believe a Sturmey Archer, the “screw” missing from the carb is as Charlie says a tickler plunger to flood the carb, the silencer I have is very similar I will take a picture.

Have you tried using a hot air gun to heat up the pump? It may free off enough to get it out.

Hi Josh
Adjacent to the injector pump there is a 19mm? plug screwed into the crankase, remove this and underneath you should be able to see the coupling between the pump and the rod, it is a spring loaded ball joint which you should be able to pop off which should then let you remove the pump.
Hope that helps. When refitting wrap a stiff wire…[Read more] -

Probably the most common non standard engine fitted would be a Lombardini diesel. No chance of repairing the Sachs?

That is strange how come the MG2 was built at Orwell works before they moved to the Nacton site or have I got that the wrong way round too?
-
expeatfarmer replied to the topic Ransome crawler mg2 in the forum Help and information 6 years, 4 months ago
Hi Peter
Your MG2 will run without problem on unleaded fuel.
The colour would be Orwell blue lighter than Nacton Blue named after the factory sites and rivers in Ipswich. Nacton Blue was used on later MG5 6 and 40 tractors.
The weight of an MG2 was listed as 8 1/2 cwt (950lbs)
Hope that is helpful. -

I have a Ransomes Turf Trak four wheeled mini tractor fitted with a front loader which I use for carrying things up and down our drive particularly the wheelie bins which I can take two at a time.A lawn tractor with the deck removed is a useful tow tool.

Just been going back through recent completed listing on E Bay Ransomes MG and found an RAF liveried MG2 sold around 21st November. The seller says that it was used on airfields for grass cutting , his father showed it towing a starter pack for aircraft. So maybe more than rumour.

The spring loaded impulse unit only engages at low revs holding the firing point at TDC, as soon as the engine starts and runs at 600rpm centrifugal force holds back the impulse latch so that it does not engage running the timing at 20deg, btdc.

I had a very similar experience with my MG2 137 the magneto had a label on it stating that it had been rebuilt, fat spark when driven by a drill but fitted to the engine bang bang was all I could get I persisted for days trying everything I could think of and then eventually I fitted a later mag and the engine started first pull and has…[Read more] - Load More
