I have been informed by the organisers of Tractor World Show Malvern that the dates for the 2016 show have been changed from April to 27th and 28th February. Apparently this was due to a clash with a sewing and needlework show which compromised the space available for display and parking. The good news is that there is now ample space to…[Read more]

I hope it has a good clutch and brakes if the hills are that steep you work on!

2 1/4 will be the width of cart wheel tyre this would have been used on. I agree they only used one drag to slow down one side rear wheel as it took a man with a chain or rope to slip it in place and pull it out again.

Hi Lars welcome to fun with Ransomes.
The front jockey wheel is interesting was the machine used for pulling timber and the jockey for riding over tree stumps?
Next year is the 80th anniversary of the Ransomes MG tractor we are planning a display at Tractor World Malvern Worcester over the weekend of March 12th. It would be fantastic to have some…[Read more] -

At First look I thought they may be a cart chock or skid to slow a cart down on hills but it looks as if it is made of brick clay and is a 2/14 ” size so unless it is some sort of brick mould Pass !!!

Many thanks Trusty I will give it a try.
Finally managed to get round to welding up the drive wheel rims yesterday, the 1/2 1937 model came in handy as a swivel mount for the welding. I tacked them up first and then welded a quarter at a time front and back and then ground them down flush I will have to apply a light skim of filler just to fill…[Read more] -

I am told that Newark is seen as the season closing show, Malvern the new start and plans are that both continue unchanged.

I am pleased to put an end to the rumours re Tractor World at Malvern, the show will go ahead as planned, Kelsey is only one of the show sponsors and remain fully committed. As I am in regular contact with the event organisers regarding the 80th anniversary display of MG tractors, I have direct confirmation that nothing will change. I am still…[Read more]

Sometimes the felt sticks inside the filter housing may be worth checking with a torch.
I made a new one a while ago using carpet felt I used two layers of felt which I soaked with water and put in the freezer and then cut the hole whilst frozen . -

Does anyone have either a spare Drayton engine or possible one fitted to a tractor that they would consider swapping for a fully reconditioned petrol engine ?

The previous owner had made up what he thought looked like a bulldozer blade, it was in a fixed position riding the ground on skids weighed a ton and looked awful. I guess it may have had a use as a snow plough as it came from the Alps. The hydraulic pump is a French unit but looks as if it was fitted in Ipswich. I have just replaced the fan belt…[Read more]

Hi James
An overhaul kit for an Amal 356 is basicly two jets and possibly a fuel control needle and float all of which are available from Neil Jarret. Being a fairly low efficiency side valve engine my experience is that with the TVO manifold they actually run better on straight petrol. I have one that I use any old petrol drained from machines…[Read more] - Load More
