I probably should have said the plough is more than adequate for what it was designed for , that is afterall what growers bought them for, but not suitable for the millimeter perfect match ploughing.
All the ploughs on this model range mount the same , and it’s probably better if you can see the set-up in the flesh to get an idea of what you have…[Read more] -

Personally I like them , my father bought one new in 1945 , and used it on his smallholding until the mid 1960s , a very versatile machine that was offered with a host of attachments. The plough in all honesty was not a great success , having limited adjustment , which is why they are not overly popular with the ploughmen at matches. When it comes…[Read more]

Not being much of a man for the modern World , and all it’s gadgets , I somewhat reluctantly , after being told how good they are , purchased an Ultrasonic cleaner. I must say from my experience they are absolutely spot on for carb cleaning.
They do away withe hap-hazard method of “wire poking” , and the end results that it can bring.Andy.

andyfrost replied to the topic Villiers C12 thread type in the forum Pedestrian operated machines 5 years, 5 months ago
It’s really a case for a thread gauge to establish which rate your engine is fitted with. Villiers used a large array of thread rates , BSC , BSW , BSF very late versions even had UNC/UNF , and to confuse matters many of the magneto threads were BA.

Making your own head gasket is not something I would reccomend , I know we have to at times like on obsolete/unavailable machines . Over here head gaskets are widely available for under £10 , so I would try and source a genuine asbestos one.

The needle end of the float is uppermost , to seat in the brass seat in the top half of the carb.
Your carb has a fixed main running jet , the only adjustment is the slow running jet , wind it in to rich , out to weaken.
You may have damaged the needle by fitting it upside down , so check it before re-fitting.Andy.

There are three different ignition units fitted to the F15 , the points gap should be stamped into the inspection cover…if it is still present , if yours is missing , I would start at 18thou and go from there.

Depends whether you want to do an accurate restoration , or just get it running , it would be a simple task to make an adjuster from a suitable threaded bolt, drill a hole to accept the spring and just use a nut either side of the bracket for adjustment.
Meetens would more than likely have the proper part , but proper money to go with it.Andy.

“something to adjust the load of the spring”
That is precisely how it works , a threaded adjuster for fixed revs , or the end of the cable for variable.
Keith , we’re talking flywheel magneto here , not a CJ or A series which are of course seperate mags.

As regards to your govenor spring , it depends on whether it was fixed revs or variable , either way you should have a bracket on the valve chest cover , have a look and report back what you have there , if anything.
Remember your ignition unit is a combined coil and condenser, fit your new points and you’ll more than likely have a spark , they’re…[Read more] -

It sounds like you have the wipac ignition that has the coil/condenser in one single unit , hence you can’t see the actual condenser.
The timing is fixed by a keyway , so no issues there.Andy.

Keith you’re bang on the mark , the company I work for has an absolutely atrocious attitude to the virus , LUCKILY no cases thus far , there is however an old saying “you reap what you sow” and I feel in general that is exactly what has happened.

Geoff/Charlie , it’s exactly the same where I live , it’s very rural , you know grass grows in the middle of the road type of thing. We have numerous “pull ins” on our roads to allow traffic to pass one another.Guess what, throughout these times clowns decide to park in them and go for an extended walk, when questioned they honestly do believe…[Read more]

I couldn’t agree more , but he does keep quite a bit of secondhand obsolete stuff. Paul Childs at Meetens is worth a call , at least with Paul you can speak to him on the phone. If you quote him the part number(C6677) he may be able to tell you whether another Villiers fan will fit , it’s not something I’ve tried , so can’t really pass comment.
