From this it is a type 28, which was fitted to a Qualcast Powered Panther mower. It has an Amal 369/5, 5/16″ choke, 25 Jet, 36″ cable and 3/4″ clip. There are a lot of variations from the standard O type. But the mag is the same Wico I 1263.

I’ve now got 3 Clintons, I’ll have a look at the numbers tomorrow, mine are LMG The parts list for the 494 shows a plug kit as well as a rebuild kit…

If you can find the engine no. I can find out what they were fitted to. On the second pic. there’s an oval inspection stamp, that should give you the year….

How about Milestones Museum in Basingstoke, another place I’ve had a hankering to go!

I tried, got up at 5am this morning, van started OK, no idiot lights, loaded dogs, food and camera, headed up the road. Just past Lyneham the engine cut and I coasted to a halt. AA called at 6:30, relay truck arrived by 9am, he took the van to my repair chap just North of Wootton Bassett. I got back at 10:15 and gave up, never mind! I was so sorry to miss this show. Don’t know what’s up with the VW but the starter won’t turn the engine…

I left home last night, got a couple of miles, the glow plug light was flashing, problem. I returned home and will try to sort it today. I’ll be there tomorrow even if I have to drive the car with no exhibits….

I’ve got a Wright plough, this one’s adapted for the Wolseley Merry Tiller. I have been assured that Wrights produced them like this. I would just like to find a brochure from around 1961 or later with a picture of it….
