7253 dates from 1952 . Neil is the man for spares. Looks as if the engine has been changed or at least the carb and manifolds these are from a later model. Not a problem though most machines have had parts changed over the years to keep them going. Good luck!

I have recently managed to tick another box on my model list by acquiring a 1963 MG 40N French spec machine fitted with Sachs electric start motor and pto driven hydraulics powering the implement crane. Believe it or not in the same week I found an original French Ransomes brochure for the same model. The engine starts and runs well from cold,…[Read more]

A friend of mine has uncovered a set of discs in remarkable condition, he refers to them as Trusty discs but is not sure can anyone confirm the maker and machine they were intended for.

Both drive roller wheels on 137 were badly worn, the drive rollers are actually bolted on with a nut either side, incredibly all bar one came undone with sockets. I have bought some repair rims from Neil and using a plasma cutter I cut down the wheels to suit the repair rims and pleasingly the rims are ready to weld on with minimal grinding to…[Read more]

Hi Rob
The engine is stripped down but I have all the parts and all seem to be in good order. -

A lot of machining work required Derek and substantial cost. Why not swap the clutch housing cover for a pulley type ( Neil Jarrett ) and fit a dynamo which you could then use to drive an electric winch through a battery, if you fit a dynostarter you will also get the benefit of electric start and your machine remains virtually original,…[Read more]

Having found that our main house drain was blocked , today I took out the MG6 digger with a vengeance. I dug a trench 4ft deep through heavy clay for a distance of 14m in less than an hour, that works for me.

Should normally be a lot more numbers so guess you may be right re replacement.
have a look on the underside of the gearbox lid or failing that take off the serial number plaque and see if the stamped number has marked the chassis. Failing that photograph the Plate and play around with edit on photoshop or similar and see if by adjusting…[Read more] -

If your tractor has not run for some time it may be that the crank shaft chamber has collected a quantity of oil which now you are running the engine is being drawn out by the scavenger pump and fed back into the oil tank. This should stop when the chamber is empty. Take a sample of oil out of the tank and see if it smells of petrol to check…[Read more] -

Restoration began in earnest today on what is believed to be the oldest Motor Cultivator surviving, dating from 1936 the tractor looks rough but is in remarkable condition, every nut and bolt has come undone without brutal measures. I gave it a good soak with penetrating oil about a week ago and so far it has paid off. The track drive roller…[Read more]

expeatfarmer replied to the topic Re: RANSOMES MG6 CRAWLER PROBLEM in the forum Ride-on machines 11 years, 2 months ago
I suspect the answer is in your post, if you have tilted to a steep angle I suspect that either water or rust/crud in the petrol tank has blocked the tank outlet, remove the tap and flush out the tank and pipe work, you may need to follow it through the fuel pump and carburettor.
oil in the pto is because the gearbox oil has run into the bearing…[Read more] -
