  • Hi Derek
Email sent. No need to worry about money, I have them already scanned and saved as PDFs. That’s what the forum is all about, helping each other out when we can.
Post some photos of your MG5 in the ride on section, it’s always nice to see some new machines on here.
My own BMB Plowmate is still in bits, one day I’ll get it back together.

  • I have come across videos on Youtube of that type of log splitter in action, looks quite effective but I imagine you would have to keep your wits about you when you are operating it.
The rear tiller looks like a very useful attachment to have.

  • Hello Derek
Send me a Personal Message with your email address and I’ll email you a copy of the manual and parts list.
Have you any photos of your BMB you could post? From your avatar picture it looks like a nice machine.
    Rob

  • That looks to be a very useful machine, where I am we get very little snow worth talking about.
I saw your other post listing your machines and attachments, you have quite a collection. If you have any photos of your machines with the different attachments you could post some, it’s always nice to see something different.
    Rob

  • Wow, they look great. I’m sure you were glad when you had finished making and fitting all those swamp blocks.
Those two machines will make a very interesting display at any event.
    Rob

  • Hi Tony, thanks that is some very useful information to have.
Are you going to try and fabricate some handles for your Troy?

Very nice restoration. I like the idea of the oil pressure guage. Did you make the spacers for setting the tracks in the wide position? My MG6 has its tracks in the wide position and it helps keep the side of the tractor clean if things get muddy.
Unrelated, but I like your new profile picture, nice looking Lab. I’ve never been without a Lab at my…[Read more]

  • Hi Tony
I’m on my phone so I hope this works. Just did a search on the old forum and found a photo that ‘rollo man’ posted. It is a mk2 that he has and it has a different handle to what the brochures show. I’m not sure if he is still a member. At least it shows that the bracket at the back of yours is original.
    Rob

  • Hi Tony
That’s odd, all the pictures in the brochures show a round section handle. It certainly looks like your machine had a different style of handle though.
There was a member called ‘rolloman’ on the old forum that had a Tractivator as well, not sure what model though. I don’t think I have seen him on the new forum.
    Rob

  • Good to hear that you got it up and running again.

  • Hello Tony
Have you checked under the ‘U’ shaped bracket that is bolted on the back? There might be a hole through the base section that would take the handle. Have a look at the attached picture, it is a zoomed in section of one of the brochures. It looks like it shows a back end similar to yours. The plough looks like it is mounted via the two…[Read more]

  • Hello Tony
I have emailed you the two brochures.
Be sure to post photos of any work you do on the Troy.
I’ll try to post the brochures here as well for all to see.
    Rob

  • Can’t add anything to the advice you have already been given on the oil, other than I have also used Morris Oils. I think it was the gear oil I got from them.
As for the pressure release valve in the pump, the manual states it is set to give 500 PSI.
Any chance you could post a few photos?
    Rob

  • Hi, I got the dimensions of my Troy Tractivator handle at the weekend. It’s just taken me a couple of days to get time to sit at my computer. It is sort of buried at the back various bits and pieces and as such couldn’t be got out so I hope the photos are okay.
The photo of the rear of your machine shows where the rod connects coming from the top…[Read more]

  • I’ve got an old brochure that shows the brushcutter, it’s a bit beat up but still nice to have.
It’s not A4 so I have had to scan the left and right sides separately.
    Rob

  • Hello Tony, welcome to the forum. I have a Mk I Troy Tractivator in my collection.
I have a plough and set of discs for mine, your brushcutter attachment looks interesting.
I will try and get you some dimensions for the handle this weekend. Looking at my photos does the rear of your machine look the same as mine where the handle connects?
    Rob

  • Thanks for the info, I think my exhaust would probably benefit from a good clean out. Like your engine my MG40 is not smokey, just noticed the oil.
    Thanks
    Rob

  • That’s a nice find. It’s in reasonable condition too.
I have found my exhaust to be a bit oily when working the MG40, would you notice any oil coming from the exhaust on your machine? I have zero experience with two-stroke diesels and don’t know if this is to be expected.

  • Hello Joe
I have attached two French brochures for the MG40. The first one does not show the rear of the tractor unfortunately. The second one for the MG40 N shows the same type of lift arrangement that is fitted to my MG40.
I wonder if what you are describing is the ‘cable lift’ arrangement as opposed to the hydraulic lift on the MG40 N ?
    My MG40…[Read more]

  • A gathering of MG’s sounds interesting, getting over from Northern Ireland with my lorry is a bit on the expensive side though so I will have to pass.
With regard to the video of the digger-dozer, I think YouTube would be your best bet as the forum has a size limit on files you can upload.
