Pete, you need to resize the photo file as it is too large. See help and information section of forum for guide on how to do this.

They are a fairly rare item so you may well need to wait some time before finding one.

There is a guide to reducing file size for uploading photos in the help and information section of forum at https://staging.vhgmc.co.uk/forums/topic/compressing-photo-files-using-ms-office-picture-manager/
The only way to test a magneto coil thoroughly is with a coil tester, a DVM will give an idea of resistance but will not be able to test insulation for breakdown under running conditions.
There is a good diagram of magneto circuit on a Villiers website

Vic, the nut should go tight as it starts to pull the flywheel off the taper on the crankshaft, this is normal for Villiers engines. Just be careful it does not pull centre out of flywheel I had this happen once. The fun is getting it back, setting the timing and getting the nut tight again. Don’t be tempted to use fins to lock flywheel.

    Gerald,
Glad to know you were able to sort the problem. As they say a picture paints a thousand words.
