charlieKeymasterCorrection to my earlier comment regarding post. I found out today that only mail to Republic of Ireland is been sent at present, all other destinations are blocked due to Covid.

charlieKeymasterBrexit and Covid should not impact on small parcels such as a head gasket which will probably go in the post. A good source of Villiers spares is Meetens.

charlieKeymasterI suspect the Fenland Ladies may be self isolating.

charlieKeymasterI can appreciate how long the transfers must be taking from the small amount of photo editing I have done eg removing barrier ropes from photos of machines at shows to make a clearer picture for inclusion in The Cultivator.
I am intrigued as to what the chain drive on that Trusty in the photo is for.December 17, 2020 at 3:13 pm #36185

charlieKeymasterI have had a look through all the Wipac information I have and cannot see a rotor arm like that anywhere. I did find a service bulletin showing a new type gear housing, see attached. All the multi-cylinder magnetos appear to have a conventional looking rotor arm.
Looking at the photos and thinking about how it works, if I understand the operation correctly. The external contact on the rotor needs to be in contact with one of the plug lead contacts on the distributor housing at the point where it will fire ie when points start to open. It should be possible to set magneto at a point where points start to open; then without moving magneto rotor shaft, attach distributor gear housing and set rotor arm to one of the plug lead terminals.
It may turnout that the witness mark lines up with the metal strip on rotor arm at this point.December 6, 2020 at 9:02 am #36116
charlieKeymasterso I ordered
3/8″-18 NPTF (National Pipe Taper Fuel) thread which is standard for these valves.
I assume the 18 means mm.The 18 refers to pitch of thread, 18 threads per inch (tpi). There are so many different threads it would fill a book.

charlieKeymasterNeil, I have found someone that has the Bristol 10 register, they may be able to help, see https://www.silverfoxtractorspares.com/ekmps/shops/jws8408/contact-us-2-w.asp
Club member Stuart Johnson is another possible contact.December 5, 2020 at 10:35 am #36096
charlieKeymasterInteresting, that is different from what the service instructions show. I will have a look through what info I have and see if I can find that type of rotor arm. It looks as if te gears drive the rotor arm at half speed ie a 2:1 reduction, counting the number of teeth on each gear will confirm this.

charlieKeymasterMike, when uploading images the file size needs to be less than 5MB. There is a guide explaining how to do this in the Help and Information section of the forum.
