Grahame , the starter pulley(the alloy part) and the steel inner(with the slot) are as such one unit , and upon undoing will come off as a complete unit , it’s then a simple task of drawing the flywheel off its staight shaft , in my experience they are very easy to remove.
Very recently I did a 2A on a Bulldog for a collector friend of mine ,…[Read more] -

Many thanks Andy. Am going to have a go at taking the flywheel off at the weekend and will take a picture of the roll pin. It looks like there is a sleeve or spacer behind the pulley and the roll pin would lock it in place. The first numbers on the crankcase are 2AH, which I think means it’s a 2A manufactured in 1951. But the H is higher t…[Read more]

I would agree with the statement above about the cost increase being small when considered over the course of a year. Costs everywhere are rising and it’s no suprise that club subscriptions need to rise, too.
Personally, I don’t feel that moving to an online only publication would be a good move. There may be others who are very happy to read the…[Read more] -

I think that the proposed increase in membership fee from £20 to £30 should be put in perspective.
The increase is £10 per annum or £0.83 per month which is equivalent to little over one pint of petrol.
Our hobby is operating internal combustion engines , perhaps using a vehicle to transport them to events but would any members decide to sto…[Read more]

Grahame , every 2A I’ve ever worked on the flywheel is only held on by the starter pulley , you should see a large slot in the steel embossed inner part , I have a nut welded on a piece of steel that fits snugly into that slot and use an impact gun , it’s normal righthand thread, very often the flywheel will come of with a VERY SLIGHT tap from…[Read more]

Have recently got a JAP 2a attached to an Alcon pump. Some may be aware of this from replies in a previous forum string. But wish to start a new subject on the engine and not the pump.
The exhaust valve was stuck open and managed to tap it closed through the plug hole. But still no compression, I think the engine has not fired in decades, so…[Read more]

Agree that if the production of the paper copy of the magazine is the main driver for increasing the membership fees. Then the possibility of a two tier fee should be explored, with the higher amount being paid by those who still wish to get it through the letterbox. The lower sum for an online version that can be downloaded. A cost analysis…[Read more]

I agree with the comments by John E-W above. Not sure how it would be if members elect to have a paper copy but definitely worth exploring. If a paper copy is required, could the member pay more? Don’t want to penalise anyone with IT or accessibility issues though.

Hello
The club has someone who replies to all the emails, and there are quite a few each day. However, I have reviewed the email log and cannot find a recent email from you in the database. It may have got lost or not saved. If it’s not too much trouble, could I ask for you to resend your query?
Many thanks

Hi my name is Gerard and I am from the Netherlands
Can anyone tell me if this chain drive on my Iron Horse is a common modification in England?
So far I have seen three of these modifications on Anzani tractors here in the Netherlands. Including my own tractor. -
