The prices in the catalogue are in the pre-decimal currency, pre February 1971, when one English pound had 20 shillings and each shilling had 12 pence, whereas today we just have 100 pennies in one pound.

It’s certainly a very attractive sprayer, very unusual in having a brass handle too.

I have found with Enots that they often produced sprayers utilising, and acknowledging of course, other peoples patents.

Just out of curiosity – what do you think was the purpose of the adjusting knob close to the nozzle as seen in image22.jpg?

Yes it is a nice find.

I’d like to say fate, but others may not agree. It’s often the way that we acquire things, we are not quite sure what or how they are connected with our specific interest, then something else comes along and it all falls into place. It’s part of the magic if you like and I for one quite enjoy it when it does happen.

A Four Oaks Handy for £12 13s 0d in around 1939-ish being the estimated date for the catalogue the page comes from equates to nearly £700 today, £699.19 to be precise, – so £22 + buyers premium & VAT is b****y cheap.

That has come up really well – just shows what can be achieved when we look through the c..p that the artefacts often have when we see them.

And it helps when they come to pieces to aid cleaning.

I need stronger spectacles – yes there are some CP adverts but not much detail re CP syringes.

Hello All,

Been away from the forum for a while.

No I don’t have any Cooper Pegler sprayers in the collection as to the best of my knowledge they were not Birmingham based so fell out of my ‘zone’ so to speak. That said I do recall seeing various examples around the shows when we used to go – that’s been a while too.

Having just said that, towards the end of 2013 I acquired a number of sprayers and with them came a quantity of literature included within are a few adverts for Cooper Pegler. I’ll fire up the scanner and see about posting some images on line. If I cannot get them attached to this thread I’ll start sewing a new one and put a link stich over.

Steve – you are so right – sometime it just does not matter that something does not follow your main interest – if it looks interesting that is the reason to buy it.

I acquired one of these beasts from a Hollowell auction several years ago – when warmed up and at full bore it delivers an impressive flame + sound effect too! ( while warming up it makes an impressive flame thrower !!!) It also had a sizeable thirst getting through a tank full in about 30 minutes.

I have not used Base Camp myself yet despite recommending folk go there but feedback I have had from some folk is pretty good.

A very old style ironmongers just round the corner still stock a good range of cup washers – bit pricey but it keeps the business local.

Oddly enough I acquired one of these from somewhere long before I started collecting sprayers – now had the internet been as good then as it is now my main interest may not be sprayers? hmm..
