after many years of searching just added a model 55 and 65 to the collection, for a change both still with thier orriginal engines

definately looks boby esk, although frame castings look slightly different to anything i have. they are from bury st edmonds same as boby, so assume they were taken over, as they themselves took over the originator of that style of drill, josiah le butt, in the 1880’s

the usual way to repair tubular handles like that, depending where the break is is to insert a heavy section tube inside the original for some length either side of the break. drill the original handle with half a dozen holes either side of the break so you can plug weld through to the inner suporting tube, then simply weld round the break in the…[Read more]

any info gratefully recieved , as its very thin on the ground for coleby. some larger shots of the plough and cultivator on your avitar would be good too, as yet to see a genuine plough for a 2 wheeler

they all seem to be different, almost as if each one was built individually! mine has a very wide axle, which is a real nuisance in the shed as it takes up too much space

i know its a cone clutch, and generally have a history of being siezed, but thats a s far as i can go. shall be interested to know though as have 2 to sort out in the future

i’d warm it up with the blow torch and let it go cold. dont get it too hot though. do this half a dozen times plug the two holes up with a couple of wooden pegs, and fill the lot up with penetrating oil and leave for a while. make sure the socket you use is a very tight fit, preferably a hex one so you dont chew the corners off!

att some time they did produce one with blades, think i still have a few blades as rest of machine was so bad, appart from a few bits was scrapped years ago
