Andy, the zenith 24t2 was also used on a number of tractors, eg British built Allis B and the Fergy T20. Old 20 parts company (among others) do a rebuild kit for them.

Courtesy of that dratted auction site, three more mowers joined the collection today.
A 16 inch Atco 2-stroke, a little Suffolk Super Swift and a Suffolk Galaxy. And all for the ruinous sum of £5!.
I’ll try and put some pics up soon.
I’m sure I’ll be asking questions about them soon.

Ditto with thoughts for those affected. Also, huge respect for Charlie and all of the others who are volunteering their time and equipment to go into the affected areas to help.

I’ve just finished the B + S ZZ engine on my Trusty. Carb’s do turn up on a certain auction site, and if you go on the .com (US) version of said site, you will find plenty of people offering carb kits. I got one from the US, N.O.S including postage cost about £25 and only took a couple of weeks to arrive. If you’re interested, PM me and I’ll pass…[Read more]

Thanks for the info Sean, just had a look at your restoration, really good!. I spoke to a local Truck mechanic today about re-lining the shoes, and I’ll have a look at your source for the bushes.

Looking at pictures of the flooded areas, it always fascinates me how miles of land can be under water, but all the old churches and farm-steads are on little islands. Just shows our ancestors weren’t so daft after all!.
In the case of the Somerset Levels, it is amusing watching the Environment Agency tying themselves up in knots trying to deny…[Read more] -

Charlie, I’m going to confess, I cracked the casting getting the taper bolt out! (my head is hung in shame!) It’s at the welders right now. Luckily, I’ve got a brilliant old boy near me who specialises in repairing engine blocks and manifolds, so I know it’ll be a good repair!.

Catfish mentions access, this is an important consideration. Is it accessible from a road, or is the access through someone else’ land? If the latter applies, are the access rights legally binding?. There have been many fall-outs over access rights, and it is not much use having a patch of land you can’t get to!.
As for the price, how long is a…[Read more] -

Hi again,
I stripped the clutch down today, and the springs, it’s fair to say, are cream-crackered. (Thanks Steve, I’ll be in touch shortly). Now, while it’s apart, it seems foolish not to replace the linings, so is it a case of buying some material and cutting it to size, or does anyone know if a commercially available lining kit for something…[Read more] -

Hi all,
Having rebuilt the carb, my Briggs engined Trusty now runs sweetly.
My new issue is the clutch.
The drum seems to turn freely on the crank when turned by hand, but when the engine is running, the drums spins at engine speed through friction (no, the clutch is NOT engaged).
I initially thought that the added drag from the drive chain would…[Read more] -

Hi all,
Just thinking about my annual weekend away, was planning to go to the Carrington rally at the end of May.
Does the club have a presence there? has anyone been, is it worth the trip?.
While looking at the map, I noticed there is old airfield in the same area with a lancaster bomber which does taxi-runs, so maybe kill two birds! 🙂Joe.

I afraid I know nothing about this particular machine, but from what you describe about the hydraulics, ie, the drive is fine but the lift is slow, there is probably a filter in the system somewhere which is partially blocked and restricting the flow, also, the oil may be emulsified due to condensation, so an oil change would be advisable.

Thanks guys,
Had another go with it yesterday, adjusting the mixture screw achieved nothing, so I think Charlie might be onto something with wear in the carb.
Series1gem, the valves have already been done.
Not sure if replacement parts are available for this carb, so if anyone has a spare ZZ carb or complete engine lying around?…… -
