Hi I’ve no idea where you would find a disc Coulter for the plough, but you could make a knife coulter for it out of some mild steel quite easily and I’m sure it would do the job.

Sorry about not replying, I have been busy with decorating a nursery and fitting a new bathroom so I haven’t touched my cultivator. Looks like you are pressing ahead well with yours if not already done. I’ll be back out in the workshop soon, probably to escape changing nappies. Cheers.

No problem, this is as far as I have got at the moment but as it goes back together I’ll update you. I’ll get some better ones for you when it’s not chucking it down I’ll lift it all outside. My workshop is rather tight for space, Good luck.

Hi all, my jap 5 engined trusty has sprung an oil leak. It is leaking from around the crankshaft at the flywheel end. I have never opened up the engine so I’m presuming there is a seal along with the bearing. Does anybody know if they are easily available ? If that’s what I need. Many thanks.

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has any experience of fitting a more modern engine to an Allen scythe? I could do with something a little less temperamental than the mk 25c that she has now. Maybe a Honda? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Hi, having had this problem myself, I cured the problem by removing the whole clutch unit from the shaft and polishing up the shaft with some grey scotchbrite. New springs were also fitted. I will also say be very careful when reassembling the unit, do not over tighten the retaining bolts because you can crack the casting easily and they are not…[Read more]

I use champion L10’s also, she will run well on them, the only snag is getting hold of a pair. I have also found that champion L86c and NGK B5HS are very similar more modern plugs and they both work well too.

Glad the photo was of some use to you Sean. I have been lucky to find a plough in this condition, underneath the 4 or so layers of paint it is as tight as the day it was made there is no play whatsoever in any of the moving parts, and no wear on disc, share and the board is also in great condition, not sure if the landslide is bit worn as I have…[Read more]

Thanks Geoff, a picture of the brake lever assembly would be very useful when u get a chance as the current lever is a ratchet type like a car handbrake which is not the easiest to operate and thank you for the other information it is very interesting and helpful.

Hi everyone. I have just bought my second Trusty, the first is a standard single speeder which has been used with much enjoyment an my allotment with a plough, ridgers, and discs. But the opportunity to upgrage to a later model with a reverse box and transmission brake came along I could not resist. Her J.A.P 5 runs well after a bit of tinkering,…[Read more]
