There are two versions of the Barford trailer the flat bed with sides or a dump trailer, from memory both use a similar chassis although the flat bed has different wheels with brakes.

Do you have the patent number? Have you looked it up on the patents website? This will give a date for the patent which might be earlier than the spraymobile.

One of the great things about these old magazines and newspapers is the adverts. There are some lovely sounding things in The Fruit Grower for pest control, eg arsenate of lead, cyanide and nicotine.

Our club chairman should be able to give information about this machine from the records and register he has.

Pete, welcome to the forum. I am sure one of our regular contributors will be able to answer your questions. As a start I would suggest not altering anything on the carb yet as the engine starts and runs OK. Cleaning out the cooling fins around the head and cylinder would be a good idea too.

If you take the old shoes to a brake relining company they should be able to reline them for you.

Saw that and wondered where it would end up, certainly something different.

Welcome to the world of vintage machinery. Pictures will be a great help identifying what carb you have.

I know John Webster (simar-kid) restored a similar engine he might know.

A quick look through my Shay literature and it looks like the mower is a Rotoscythe Countryman
