Points gap for Mk25 is 0.012 – 0.016″. Timing is 3/16 BTDC this is measured from top of piston and is easiest if the cylinder head is removed.

The important measurement is the height above and distance from the plough point, one of our ploughmen will know the answer.

It is good practice to slow engine to minimum and watch the shaft on side of gearbox stop. IF it is turning at any speed engaging the clutches will cause damage to them and engaging only one could cause machine to turn, eg engage right hand clutch and it will drive right hand wheel so turn left. Engaging clutch with shaft turning causes damage to the dog clutch. These can be inspected by opening the top of the gearbox by lifting the toolbox. trusty220 is our Trusty expert.

It could be that magneto type was different for some countries, a local make being used. This happened with the British Graveley machines which were of Americam origin but had UK magnetos, Wico.

If the rings are seized in the piston grooves you can try freeing them off by gently scrapping the carbon away with an old feeler gauge. I did this with a JAP engine on a Gunsmith.

Does it have a Briggs & Stratton engine?

Good news by the look of it, a good clean will confirm this. Whilst you have it apart it will be worth checking the plunger on the oil pump works. The gearbox I stripped recently the plunger was sticking and would not have pumped oil. This is critical as it pumps oil to the worm gear.
Ratchets are unlocked with pin out, see page 11 of manual. A good clean should and oil should free everything off without dismantling completely. Check pawl spring MT215 is not broken.

Some of the spares list I have appear to be printed in Geneve and refer to Rototiller.
