The need for RTA insurance came about due to changes in the Road Traffic Act. This made areas such as rally field a ‘public place’ and motor vehicles therefore need the correct insurance, you do not need vehicle to be registered nor do you need tax as it is not a highway.
Beware some insurance company staff are not fully aware of what is required and what is not eg registration number. You can insure using vehicle serial number, chassis number etc.

As I said before which model of gearbox is it as I may have a manual. I think it should have the type on the casing somewhere.

The gearbox is like a motorcycle gearbox and the handle is in effect the kick start.

I dispute the claim about ‘a new tool’ it is the old Terrex spade under a new name.

Have you considered marking everything with ‘smart water’ type technology eg Select DNA, as per FBHVC article in The Cultivator some time ago. It may not prevent theft but it will enable items to be identified. The signs warning that items are marked should be a deterent.

Joe, thanks for the vote of thanks. We are all in this hobby for one reason (well should be) and that is to collect, preserve and use our machines and tools etc. It is not about, ‘I have got a bigger collection than you’ or ‘my restoration is shinier than any body else’, or winning more prizes. The club weekends are for all club members to get together and enjoy our hobby.
