I still use a F80 , but here in the UK , I’ve never seen a F90 , I’m lead to believe it was Hondas first attempt at a diesel engined machine , be nice to know if anyone has one , or even seen one in UK.

I have most manuals for the Honda F range in our stores, its just a matter of getting to them, I can always add it to the list of finding them over the Christmas period.
To hand at the moment I have a shop manual for the Honda F300, F400, & F450
Date of issue F400 October 1976
Date of Issue F300 December 1978
Date of Issue F450 December 1980 -

I own 2 Honda f90 but haven’t seen any others in my 53 years. Glad you found one.
You can use the GD90 book for the engine part. The manual for the machine is missing.

Currently sorting through and cataloguing the Trusty enginering drawings. Not seen anything yet for dynastart on Steed and not sure all drawings are there. This is going to take some time to complete.

Hi yes very sorry that is what I was told I re red the message. That is fantastic to find this out. I can also see it says its fitted with a dynastart. Do we know how this was fitted. From what I can see with what I have it was belt driven and I have a small shaft with a 2 blade fan and its also belt driven. I would assume it would haveto be…[Read more]

I have looked at Geoff’s scans of the original factory records for the Steed.
Number 422 was sent to the agricultural dealership F. C. Adamson, Swanland, East Yorkshire, and is dated 13/04/1965. It was sent out fitted with grassland tyres.
On the same date, the preceding Steed 421 with standard motor car tyres was also sent to F. C. Adamson.…[Read more]

As far as I know the dates in the Trusty register are from the factory records, so I would assume those to be correct.

Grahame, thank you for your thoughts on the membership fee increase. The vast majority of those that bothered to contact us regarding the increase were in favour and did not want us to scrap or go digital with the magazine. A number of renewals have already been received, only time will tell if the increase has a significant impact on membership numbers.

Hi Charlie,
Indeed the written word does not covey nuance unless time is taken to compile the text. The forum is not the primary reason I have decided to not renew my membership.
The committee rejected all suggestions of how to cut club costs and voted for the status quo with an across the board rise in membership fees of 50%. They did this…[Read more]

I had a Howard 700 rotavator back in the mid 90s and it came with a finger mower attachment that was approximately 3ft wide but unfortunately I have no pictures of it now.

Grahame, sadly Facebook etc has taken over from forums and real clubs, social media groups acting as virtual clubs. Any discussion within a club etc wil generate differences of opinion, the problem is the typed word does not convey the same or intended tone.

Hi Charlie,
Sadly, I have tried to use the forum in the way it is intended. But have been met with either apathy, or at times a degree of negativity. It is one of several reasons that has formed the decision of not to renew my membership next year.
You are correct, a condenser and a capacitor are different words for the same component.…[Read more]

Grahame, sorry to hear you will not be renewing your VHGMC membership, note this will mean you wil no longer be able to post on the forum.
Condenser v capacitor, my understanding is they are the same just a change in terminology over the years and of course construction methods and materials making modern ones more efficient and reliable. -

An update about the 2a ET conversion. I did a thorough overhaul of the engine, it included replacing the condenser with a capacitor. Which I do as a matter of course now when working on a magneto that does not achieve my default pass level of a 6mm spark in air. I was very pleasantly surprised that the Wico Pacy flywheel magneto got up to an…[Read more]
