You’re welcome Dan.
Always good to find manuals on the net for free!

Finally got round to changing oils in advance of working event season. Never seen oil like it! Thick as thick custard and about the same colour. Methinks service long overdue! Even after flushing new oil now looks on the emulsiony side so guess I’ll change again at the end of the year. The rotor drive oil was the worst, almost too thick to run o…[Read more]

Hi Dan
I used to have a Hatz Diesel Gem. Never did any major work to it, but there’s a manual here you may find useful if you haven’t already got it. Good luck!

Sorry Charlie. Should have made clear I only got plough recently! Andy, very proud is right, champing at the bit to use it!
I’ll tentatively suggest I’ll bring 56 plough and 5 (if 5 not playing up!) -
roatavator replied to the topic 1918 centennial year SIMAR in the forum General talk and discussion 8 years, 1 month ago
Well, I’ll kick off. Assuming they’re running I can potentially bring any two of 5, 30, 35, 50, 56 tiller, 56 plough. I’ll try and bring anything others can’t.

I expect with a bit of planning we could cover most of those, not sure about 10 unless you’re keeping something up your sleeve Charlie! Perhaps if we all said up front which we would like to or could bring we’d get more variety.

Can’t wait! I’ll be there at least one of the days. See if I can bring a couple of the noisy ones.

Reference photograph on page 12 of excellent April 2018 Cultivator, for those who would like to hear it running, here’s a link to a video. It appears at approx 3min 50sec.

Thanks Charlie. Clearly I’ll have to buy a new edition, it’s not in my “50 years “!
Funny how SIMARS have a way of getting under your skin, isn’t it?

I love the idea of a steam mower. In practice I would imagine in this country by the time you’d got steam up it would have started raining!
Charlie, I’ve tried googling them but can’t find any info. Got details or a photo?
Thanks.
I guess being into Monro was what got you on to SIMARS?

Interesting you should say that Sean. I’m thinking when I get too old to walk behind my current collection I’ll probably have to slim down and get an MG I can sit on. Mind you, driving it up the ramps on to the high bed of the Commer might be interesting!!
Also had another thought on dream machine. Australian Howard 12, but as apparently unk…[Read more] -

In another idle moment (well it is Friday and I’m only working a four day week) I was pondering what other machinery I really crave. I’m lucky enough to have acquired most of my hit list but there’s two that I would really lust after. Fortunately for my wallet and wife neither are ever likely to happen. Both SIMAR, T100 and M10. How about you,…[Read more]

Hello Ian
I’ve taken lots of photos and measurements. PM me your email address and I’ll send them through, it will save me having to shrink the photos!

Thanks Andy
Being local it was too much to resist! It’s currently sitting on the Commer as I’ve no space for it. IF, and it’s a big if, the weather dries up a bit I’ll probably have it out at Stanfield next week. I imagine it’s pretty claggy underfoot at the moment.

A short video from today.
Anyone got a spare black cover for the top of the handlebars pivot? Don’t think much of the current solution! -

Just when you think you’ve missed the boat, you hear of the very machine you want being available locally. Suffice to say now safely tucked up at home, with one very happy owner!
