Checked the valves with a deeper and there is hardly any move many on the piston. I think I will check compression for peace of mind

Hi the wire from the coil to the points isn’t long enough. Do have to use a specific wire or can I use a strand from normal three core cable?

I think I am going to change the condenser it was the only part of the ignition I didn’t change during the rebuild.

It’s a new plug cap and the tester flashes when it’s connected from plug cap to earth. It’s as if the spark is not strong enough to jump the spark plug gap. Could it be the condenser?

I’ve used 2 brand new plugs and the gap is correct. It’s a mystery to me

That’s the point I’m getting a great spark to earth without the plug attached but nothing when the plug is attached

I’m connecting the tester to the plug cap and getting a great spark to earth do that should all be ok

I’ve tried that Charlie but there is no or very intermittent spark but if I just connect the spark tester to the plug cap and the spark tester direct to earth without the plug the light flashers as it should

The plug is screwed into the cylinder head

Now I have another problem. I not getting a spark at the plug. Connected the spark tester from plug cap to earth and the light flashers beautifully. Plug cap to body of spark plug light flashers as should. Plug cap to plug terminal no light. It’s as if the spark isn’t strong enough to go through the plug. It’s a Mk12 villiers it had an NGK B-4H but I have since been told that plug will run too hot.

The spark plug that I removed is a 14mms thread and I now know the CB3 is an 18mms but I now wonder why the manuals for the engine and tiller state the plug as CB3
