  • Hi,
I’ve just managed to get hold of one of these motor hoes and was wondering if anybody could give me any information on them,if anybody has a workshop manual, parts list or a user manual I would appreciate a copy,I’ve not got anything with a JAP engine on so are spares available and where from, an engine manual would be great if someone has one,…[Read more]

  • Looking at the picture of brians it doesn’t look particularly big or very heavy,I have a couple of landmaster rotary hoes that are big and very heavy but are not 150’s,maybe a picture or two would help with identification.

  • Changed the condenser day before yesterday and as a precaution I took charlies advice and changed the coil as well and she has never started so well in the 10 years I have had her, after about 3 start and stops just to make sure everything was right she started bucking back half way through the rope pull (nearly pulled my arm off, it was a good…[Read more]

  • What a good copy of the cultivator this is, I think the colour pictures really set it off,I particularly liked the piece on the Farmers Boy Walk Behind Plough I learned more in that piece than I’ve been able to find anywhere on the net, just goes to show how much knowledge there is on this site,if anybody has any manuals for the Farmers Boy I would…[Read more]

  • I am just down the road off of maunsell way that backs onto wharf farm, how do I go about showing some pieces at the show moggyjim I’ve been thinking about it for a while but I haven’t got a clue how or what is needed, actually I must admit that even though this is probably the nearest show to me I have never been,I have been to pick fruit but…[Read more]

  • Where abouts in wroughton did you live Darren,I live there now.

  • Thanks again for the instructions owen,I went through them and still couldn’t get a good spark so I’ve been waiting for a new condenser to arrive,I have now found my multimeter (that mysteriously disappeared) so I checked the coil as per your instructions and on the low tension side your instructions say I should have less than 1 ohm and I have…[Read more]

  • Thanks for the message owen I will go through it tomorrow and see if it cures it.

  • hi,I thought I would get the barford out and get it going after its winter rest ready for the allotment but the villiers mk 15 hs is suffering from a poor and intermittant spark.I,ve cleaned the points and cleaned the inside of the flywheel and derusted the coil wings and the flywheel but after turning it over with a battery drill (which is pretty…[Read more]

  • Many thanks Charlie.

  • Hi,happy new year to everyone,I decided to pull my barford 30 out of the shed today to give it a dusting off ready for some allotment work (if the rain ever stops) and I have some questions that I hope the experts on here will know, first of all does anyone know the thread size for the front tool locking screw mine is full of crud and I don’t think…[Read more]

  • I sent them the engine numbers and in a covering letter told them how to read the number and I also included a sheet from the B&S website on how to read the number but because the tractors were manufactured for two years they wouldn’t give it an age related plate, but I am happy they have been registered and the tax discs arrived today,I do love it…[Read more]

  • Just a quick update on the registration of my two simplicities,I sent all the paperwork including the dating information from Briggs and Stratton and Simplicity also my insurance to hmrc to be checked against NOVA and got a letter back stating that there was no vat to pay so I could now apply to DVLA for a reg no,I thought this was just a…[Read more]

  • The refusal letter the sent me informed me that I should ring HMRC to find out about this NOVA system they have for registering vehicles so I did, aparently as of 15th april your vehicle has to be on this NOVA (Notification Of Vehicle Arrivals) list before you can register it in case there is any tax to pay,so he emailed me the forms which I have…[Read more]

  • Thanks for that titch,I will ring them tomorrow to see if I can sort this out as I can only find the engine number on one machine but they are both the original b&s engines so it has got to be there somewhere,if I don’t get any joy I will send you some photos to see if you can do anything,by the way how are my dash decals getting on.

  • I also posted on a couple of American websites and I have downloaded as much information as I can and I will phone dvla on Monday,I received a letter from them suggesting I look at their website http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/nova apparently it has something to do with how they date vehicles.

  • A while ago I was REQUESTING this information but now dvla want me to PROVE the manufacturing date otherwise the tractors need an IVA for a Q plate which I don’t really want,I would like them to have age related plates if I possibly can.

  • Hi,I am not sure if this is the right area to post this so please feel free to correct me if I am in the wrong place,I have two simplicity tractors a 7116 no: 1690475-001212 and a 3410 no: 990755-03069,I am trying to register them with the dvla but they want me to prove their manufacturing dates,is there a site or a link that would send me a…[Read more]

  • Hi,I am getting near the end of the rebuild of my 7116 but I have hit a wall as to a carb/fuelling problem that I was hoping the experts on here could help with,I have put a brand new carb on and brand new governor springs I have set the governor as per zippo vargas video on you tube but the problem persists, she will start and idle very smoothly…[Read more]
