The Caldwell-Vale looks awesome now, when I saw the pile of rusty metal, I could not imagine anyone ever making something as impressive as that. It must have been one of the earliest 4×4 trucks made.
I remember seeing the wheels, I think he had the remains of 2 trucks, the wheels looked like traction engine wheels, and there was a section of…[Read more] -

Hello Dan.
I remember seeing the Howard ‘kelpie’ in Reg Shuster’s museum in 1997 in fact I have photos somewhere. I was lucky enough to have a guided tour around his fantastic place. The rusty 4wd road trains were a sight to behold, I believe he restored one in the end, is that correct?, I must admit I have forgotten their name, but I think they…[Read more] -

Hello Charlie.
As mentioned by Dave 6.00×22 have not been made for 30+ years, I tried to locate the whereabouts of moulds several years ago, but it seems they have been destroyed/lost.
Apart from Plowmate, Iron Horse, they also fit David Brown 2D, Coleby shire, Garner 2 wheeler and 4 wheeler, Gunsmith et etc.
Most surviving tyres are now showing…[Read more] -

I am wondering if anybody has an idea of the paint colour for the 1928 Auto Culto Model A.
I have heard that Andy Frost may be someone that knows.
Also looking for a flywheel cover for the Villiers engine.Chris

I thought I would add a photo of the Brosson ‘rainmaker’ now that it is reassembled and back in working order following a bit of TLC.

I hope you got sorted.

Hello there.
I think it is a B.O.I.L sprinkler (British overhead irrigation Ltd), not sure where they came from, with a bit of research I guess you could find out more.

Can anybody come up with information relating to the ‘Brosson’ sprinkler/irrigator. It is quite a complex bit of kit for a sprinkler more suited to commercial irrigation. I wondered if anyone else has one in their collection, or any sales information.

I will need to start a shopping list! Starting with wooden handles and a flywheel cover, I think I have most of the other bits needed, but time and skinned knuckles will tell!

I too was lucky enough to find a copy of the book by Mr Ashby, who came from Hailsham in Sussex, not very far from where we used to live, in fact My Father was a pupil at Knights Nurseries in Hailsham, they have now become ‘Sussex plants Ltd’ and still going strong.
