franktonpaget started the topic Gunsmith Tractor Decal in the forum Ride-on machines 9 years, 11 months ago
A Gunsmith light tractor currently for sale is in very original condition given it must be sixty plus years old.
In particular the original decal is still visible located on the Jap engine cover, see attached photograph
I cannot remember seeing this decal on a restored Gunsmith , although on some sales literature I have a small oval Gunsmith decal…[Read more] -
franktonpaget replied to the topic Ransomes MG Crawlers in France in the forum Ride-on machines 10 years ago
Interestingly a diesel Ransomes MG40 is for sale on a certain auction site ex France which has the hydraulic ram rear lift
Some good photographs on the listing give the MG chassis number but also the French manufacturers plate on the rear lift attachment.
I think this supports the idea that to get around protective French import duties on imported…[Read more] -

Interesting discussion I wonder we do not see more Brinly ploughs although the digger body may not be ideal for a ploughing match.
Attached is the front page of a Brinly brochure showing the plough, the plough seems to have a lot of width adjustment on the cross member and shows a rear depth wheel not shown on the other photographs in this topic -

I received my Cultivator today, I think it is a credit to the Club and is developing into a publication which the Club members will find interesting whatever there particular interest is.
The Club is a pretty broad church but the breadth of topics covered is a tribute to the members who contributed and the skill of our Editor Alan Rogers in…[Read more] -

The VHGMC is and always has been a “broad church” of enthusiasts who I have found whatever there particular favourites are also interested in the subject in general.
Many of the lightweight tractor manufacturers in a effort to increase markets produced “industrial” versions David Brown 2D, Garner or Winget to just name a few and close to me Lea…[Read more] -

Lovely job you have there, you do not see many of this model Uni-Horse about and looking at dates on literature I have it must be 50 years old !!
AS you have the optional rear wheel weights (original cost £10) you are well set up for ploughing with the 10″ plough or using the cultivator, rotary cultivator or discs.Uni-Horse seemed to offer a…[Read more]

In a museum at Saviac in France my eye was caught by a spray unit used for Vineyard work, manufactured by Energic the makers name is cast into the pump body.
I know some Energic small four wheel vineyard tractors have been imported to the UK, there was also some of there pedestrian two wheel cultivators at the museum.
I did not realise that…[Read more] -

On a recent holiday in France I took the opportunity to revisit the rural museum at Saviac and have another look at the Ransomes MG tractors they have.
The tractor serial numbers are MG6 11773 and MG? 11660, on one the makers plate has a strut fixing bolt drilled through obscuring the model number but it looks like either a MG5 or MG6.I know…[Read more]

Good machine with what looks like a original drive belt
A old chap (78)in the next village still uses his Ploughmate for his potato growing preferring it to the grey ferguson and ransomes mg he also has.
