You could try contacting Bob Maries he runs the Garner register, see Garner in Survivors section of this website for his e mail address.

There are a number of club members both sides of the border in Ireland so it should be possible to get a few more, especially if you have a dedicated section. It sounds as if you are where we were some years ago on the mainland, gradually organisers have realised we have something to offer as a dedicated section. Thanks for sharing the photos.

I dont think all colours have a RAL number, there are a number of different colour codes eg Pantone, some have a BS number, so not an easy job. A good start would be list make and model of machine, colour and any known code with perhaps a note to say code was arrived at eg sample of paint scanned. Colours will not come true from photograph. A simple table on a word document or an Excel spreadsheet will do.

vegikev, a good idea all it needs is someone to volunteer to run and manage it and members to supply the relevant information.

Dan, welcome to the forum, I remember Dave well, yes he was one of the founding members of this club, member number 1. I visited Dave and Brenda on numerous occasions. The machine with the Villiers engine and sign is an Auto Culto if I remember correctly this one was a works demo machine, I am sure one of the other founding members will confirm this. If you want to sell any of the surplus items you can always put an advert in the club magazine The Cultivator. I am sure I have a photo of your sister with the Barford and trailer at the club weekend held at Woodborough.

The l/h one is for mounting on the rear and should have a length of square bar going through the holes, the r/h one mounts on the front and should also have a length of square bar. The rest of the cultivator frame mounts on the square bar. I will see if I can get my cultivator frame out of the shed and take a photo. The manuals do not show the different parts.

A brief history of horticultural ploughing and why there is a separate section for ploughing. In the early days of the VHGMC ploughing with our machines, eg Trusty, Anzani Iron Horse etc, was looked down upon by the tractor ploughmen, often saying we could never do a proper job. However through the hard work and determination of the ploughmen in our club we became recognised as being able to plough as well as any of the other single furrow ploughmen. We established our own section within ploughing matches and the obligatory rules. There is a ploughing section not because it is seen as the main activity of the club but a specialist activity. Many of the club ploughmen only plough, they do not exhibit at shows like so many other members. The club working weekends in Kent and at Weeley are intended to be an opportunity for any member to bring along whatever machine and attachment they want and have a play, no competition, although there is a club match at Weeley.

If you are confident that you have removed all loose rust and there are no pin holes in the tank it might be worth trying it without sealing the inside. Any loose rust will find it’s way to the fuel pipe and eventually cause a blockage. Have a look on the Frost site, they list several kits and products for sealing fuel tanks. None of them are cheap but it is something you dont want to fail or need to do again. I have bought one of the motorbike tank kits to try on one of my machines which has a rusty tank. For information about ethanol and the problems it can cause have a look at the FBHVC site

Stew, most area reps have a banner and a number of club members have bought their own from the club shop, contact Steve Woollas to purchase one.

I see now, it is a shouldered bolt, no idea if you can buy them off the shelf, probably cost a fair bit to get some made. Using a collar on a standard bolt sounds like the best option.
